Mentoring

A practice of our organization is the continuous mentoring of inner-city youths who are students of the New York City public school system, especially those in the trade schools. Our efforts are intended to engage, support, guide, communicate with, and encourage the academic success of our mentees. Our responsibility is to inspire our charges to realize their potentials in spite of the various challenges or obstacles they face daily.

The CEO of Smalls Electrical, Jeffrey Smalls, has served as principal for a day at William E. Grady High School, and in this role, he inspired and encouraged many students to believe in their abilities to accomplish. Once an inner-city student himself, Jeffrey fully understands the socio-economic challenges and peer pressures that can easily deter students from fulfilling their purpose. He has always been passionate about his vision of success for the many trade students he’s met over the years, and true to his promise to afford employment opportunities, he has hired many of them upon graduation. We are proud of these employees who are now positive contributors to our organization, their families, and communities.

Success for us means accomplishing our mission, but it also means fulfilling our social responsibility to our youths!
